The Home Depot store chain is applying automation and artificial intelligence (AI) in its processes to optimize its supply chain and improve product delivery times in Mexico.
Salvador Muñoz, vice president of the company’s Supply Chain, commented that their processes have evolved with automation systems to improve operational efficiency and optimize resources.
In this sense, he commented that the integration of robots in its storage and retrieval system has allowed it to improve efficiency in storage and order fulfillment.
“We see a lot of opportunity in artificial intelligence processes that we are analyzing very carefully to optimize multiple processes in our supply chain, this will allow us to be more flexible in our adaptation processes to rapid changes in market trends,” said Muñoz.
Personalizing customer communication is another approach, using data technology to create more relevant messages and content based on user preferences.
However, Muñoz commented that the implementation of these technologies also involves challenges , especially in the integration between the workforce and machines. The company seeks to ensure that technology supports its associates by improving their work environment.
Furthermore, this automation requires a deep analysis of existing systems , the selection of compatible tools and the training of personnel. In the end, the objective is for this technological trend to generate value for all members of the supply chain.
