At the close of the first four months of the year, a total of 1,109 vehicles (heavy-duty, light-duty, private, and others) have been stolen in Mexico, with 546 of these corresponding to heavy-duty vehicles. This means that 45.8% of theft cases were concentrated in this type of units, according to the monthly statistics from the National Association of Vehicle Tracking and Protection Companies (ANERPV).

The private organization revealed that in the fourth month of the current year, there were a total of 289 theft events, representing an increase of 20 units compared to the immediate previous month.

Specifically, in the case of cargo vehicles, 153 units were stolen in the reference month, meaning that 52.9% of the crimes were concentrated in the robbery of heavy-duty vehicles.

Regarding the states with the highest crime rates for cargo transportation, the State of Mexico stands as the first place with 41 thefts in the reference month. So far this year, the entity has recorded 138 crimes.

The second most risky state for the transportation of goods and merchandise was Puebla, which totaled 36 thefts in April of this year, reaching a total of 95 thefts in the aggregate.

In the third position was Hidalgo, which accumulated 14 thefts of heavy-duty vehicles in April; it is worth noting that this entity climbed two positions, moving from the fifth to the third place. In the aggregate for the first four months of the year, the state recorded 43 incidents.

Guanajuato ranked fourth with 12 thefts during the fourth month of 2024, and from January to April, 41 crimes were counted.

Closing the top five of the states with the highest number of thefts from cargo transportation was Jalisco, which descended two positions this month, moving from the third to the fifth place with seven crimes.

ANERPV also detailed that of the total vehicles stolen (heavy-duty, light-duty, private, and others) during the first four months of 2024, 29% were stolen in the State of Mexico, equivalent to 318 units.

The second most risky entity was Puebla, with 16% of the events, representing the theft of 176 units.
