The use of advanced telemetry technologies for vehicle tracking allows monitoring the location of a unit in real time , providing companies with key data for the efficient management of their operations , according to Manuel Gómez Ruelas, director of Argus Telematics and member of the National Association of Vehicle Tracking and Protection Companies (ANERPV) .
In this sense, in the transport and logistics industry, telemetry becomes an essential tool to obtain real-time data on vehicles .
“We install equipment in trucks and vehicles to track their location and collect valuable information for fleet owners,” explained Gómez Ruelas in an interview with T21.
This data allows companies to monitor driver behavior, fuel consumption and detect potential bad driving practices that can be corrected in time.
In addition to tracking, on-board video systems have been implemented to monitor operator behavior and events within the cabins.
This technology provides greater security by offering a visual record of what happens during trips.
“The transportation sector in Mexico constantly faces the challenge of protecting its assets, whether vehicles or merchandise,” added Gómez Ruelas.
He also highlighted that the adoption of this technology has had a positive impact on the industry .
Regarding Artificial Intelligence, Gómez Ruelas commented that it is being progressively integrated into all digital technologies, a natural step for any company in the technology sector.
“It is becoming a widely used tool and is one of the areas where we see the greatest potential for growth,” he said.
Another topic he addressed was the evolution of telecommunications , particularly the increase in bandwidth in wireless networks, which will allow data to be transmitted in real time with greater speed and precision.
“This means we will be able to send live video and more information from vehicles immediately, which will benefit customers by receiving more complete and useful data in real time,” he explained.
Gómez Ruelas also spoke about the challenges facing the industry in terms of security and the need to remain competitive in a globalised environment.
“One of our biggest challenges is to be an agile company in the adoption of technologies, in order to remain competitive in the market,” stressed the director of Argus.
He also explained that, unlike some companies that use technological platforms developed abroad, they have chosen to design and develop their products in Mexico . This allows them to customize solutions to the specific needs of their clients and offer more competitive products in terms of costs and efficiency.
In this context, Gómez Ruelas highlighted that the global trend in the industry is the adoption of more advanced technologies , which will be key to the growth and competitiveness of vehicle tracking and protection companies.
“We are committed to developing new technologies to optimize safety and improve fleet management, thereby addressing the challenges of the transportation industry in Mexico and Latin America,” concluded Gómez Ruelas.
During the Argus IoT Convention 2024 , Manuel Gómez Ruelas highlighted the commitment of Argus Telematics , a company with 15 years of experience in the industry, and ANERPV in the development of new technologies to optimize security and improve fleet management.
He also stressed that these advances were essential to address the challenges of the sector and build a more efficient and safer future in transport.
The event brought together professionals and experts to explore the latest trends in telemetry and the Internet of Things (IoT), with panel discussions, presentations and a showroom that presented specialized projects.
